Nigerian lawmaker dies in Saudi Arabia
CITIZENS COMPASS- A member of the Katsina State House of Assembly representing Bakori Local Government Area, Dr. Ibrahim Kurami, is died.
He reportedly died in Saudi Arabia at about 2am on Monday, October 10, 2022, while performing the lesser Hajj (Umrah) and was buried the same day in Medina.
Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Ali Al-Baba, confirmed the death on Monday.
Although Al-Baba, who represents Katsina Constituency in the House did not give details surrounding Kurami’s death, he said he and other lawmakers would pay a condolence visit to the hometown (Kurami) and the Bakori constituency of the late lawmaker after their ongoing workshop in Kano.
Family sources said the late lawmaker was survived by two wives, 11 children, and three grandchildren.
Kurami was an All Progressives Congress lawmaker who also won the last primary to represent the constituency under the platform of the party in the 2023 forthcoming general election.
Kurami was elected into the 34-member Katsina State House of Assembly in a by-election on 31, October 2020, following the death of his predecessor in office, Abdurrazak Ismail Tsiga.
Recall that terrorists kidnapped Kurami’s first wife and two sons on September 5, 2021, although the trio later regained their freedom.
