Music takes centrestage on Glo-sponsored African Voices Changemakers

 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS—Music is the focus of this week’s edition of CNN International’s magazine programme, African Voices Changemakers. The programme is sponsored by Digital Solutions Company, Globacom.

Guests on the 30-minute show are Nigerian songwriter, singer and actor, Chike Ezekpeazu Osebuka, popularly known as Chike, Damilola L.A.X Afolabi of Starboy Entertainment, talented singer and rapper, Blessing Akiode of Candy Bleakz fame, as well as singer and song writer, Ekeh Chiaka Joseph (Majeeed,) and Wendy Shay, a Ghanaian singer.

These music icons will share their inspiring stories, from their humble beginnings to achieving success in the music industry.

Chike Ezekpeazu Osebuka (Chike), Nigerian songwriter, singer, and actor graduated from Covenant University in Nigeria. The 31-year-old Glo ambassador gained fame through acting and Project Fame West Africa before moving into full time music. In 2020 he won City People Music Award for Album of the Year.

31-year-old Damilola Afolabi (L.A.X), is a Starboy Entertainment artist. He graduated from the University of Manchester with a Masters degree and kick- started his music career as a rapper.

Blessing Akiode (Candy Bleakz), a talented singer and rapper started her career in 2013 in a group of three called Flybois. By 2020 she was signed to Chocolate City. Also, Majeeed’s music adventure started with two promotional singles. “Gee for Life” and “Rocky Lo” before the career of the Mass Communications graduate from Iscom University, Republic of Benin blossomed.

The last guest is Wendy Shay from Ghana. She honed her musical skills in Germany before launching her career with her debut single “Uber Driver” in 2018. Aged 28, Shay is a trained nurse.

The programmes comes up on DSTV Channel 401 on Saturday at 8.30 a.m. and will be repeated the same day at noon. Other repeats follow on Sunday at 4.30 a.m. and 7.00 p.m., on Monday at 4.00 a.m., and on Saturday next week at 8.30 a.m. and 12 noon.
