Mohbad :Unknown faces teargas mourners at Lekki Tollgate
CITIZENS COMPASS — SOME yet-to-be identified persons have on Thursday night, fired teargas canisters to disperse Hundreds of mourners at the Lekki-Tollgate in Lagos State.
The mourning was held amidst tight security.
However, it ended abruptly due to firing of teargas canisters at the mourners.
Meanwhile, the management of the record label promoting the late singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba popularly known as Mohbad, on Thursday, held a candlelight procession in his honour.
The programme took place in Lekki, Lagos.
The procession kicked off at Lekki Phase 1 Gate and ended at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The tribute concert to mark his time on earth as a singer starts at 8 pm prompt at Muri Okunola Park.
Recall that Mohbad died at the age of 27 years on the 12th of September 2023, and since his death, circumstances surrounding his death have sparked controversies.
Meanwhile, amidst tight security, fans and friends of the late singer gathered at Lekki-Tollgate Plaza in the night mourning him.
They were clad in White and bore various placards with various inscriptions at the Tollgate.
However, the mournimg ended abruptly as they were dispersed with teargas canisters by unknown persons.
Various clips on social media captured the mourners scampering for safety.
At press time, those who fired the canisters could not be identified.
A post by a popular On-Air Personality, Do2dtun, on his X handle read, “Honesty over Honesty Nigerians do not listen. WE DO THE MOST. This procession ended at Muri Okunola Park over 3 hours ago. We ended and all left. Some still went to converge at the Lekki toll gate. It is not a protest. It is a CANDLELIGHT PROCESSION.”
