CITIZENS COMPASS – In an attempt to rob some church goers, a suspected armed robber, on Sunday morning, met his untimely death in the Awka area of Anambra State.
The incident occurred at about 6 a.m. in the Ifite area.
One of the victims, who works at a popular joint in Awka, shared her experience, stating that the gang consisted of three men, but only one was killed during the robbery attempt. “I was coming back from work, and another girl who was going to church had just stepped out of her lodge when the three men approached us, asking what we had in our bags.
“The girl going to church quickly threw her bag into the bush, but the robbers searched my bag, took my phone and money, and then started chasing us. The girl ran towards her lodge, while I ran into the bush.
“While hiding, one of the robbers tried to find her, but a local security guard intervened, shooting and killing the robber while the remaining two managed to escape.”
