Man in court for stealing three bottles of beer
CITIZENS COMPASS– AN Ogba Magistrates’ Court sitting in the Ikeja area of Lagos State has sentenced a 28-year-old man, Ibrahim Kuye, to four hours of community service
for allegedly trespassing into a compound and stealing three bottles of beer valued at N1,500.
He stole the beer at Egbeda, in Alimosho area of the state.
Kuye, who was arraigned on Thursday, March 23, 2023, before Magistrate O.A Ogunjobi, is facing two-count charges bordering on stealing preferred against him by the police Inspector Emeka Ehinze, who told the court that the defendant committed the offence in Egbeda, in the Alimosho area of the state.
According to the prosecutor, the offence committed is punishable under Section 306(2) and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The charge read, “That you, Ibrahim Kuye, on March 18, 2023, around 3pm at Gemade Estate, Egbeda, Alimosho, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did break into No. 9 Fidelix Crescent, Gemade Estate, Egbeda, Alimosho, Lagos State, by climbing the gate of the compound, property of one Uche Uba, and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 306 and punishable under Section 306(2) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
When Kuye was interrogated by the Magistrate, he claimed to have stolen the beer out of frustration.
