Man allegedly kills brother over foodstuff 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS – A 37-year-old man, Kosisochukwu Okafor, has allegedly killed his older brother following a heated argument over foodstuff in Anambra State.

He is currently cooling his heels with the Police.

Until his arrest, he was a resident of Adegbe Village, Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area.

The incident occurred on Friday after which Police operatives attached to the Abagana Police Divisional Headquarters and AVG Operatives, Abagana effected the arrest.

Spokesperson, Anambra State Police Command,Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident.

He told newsmen that the suspect confessed to having engaged the victim in a fight over a heated argument about foodstuffs in the house. Kosisochukwu was said to have used a stick to pierce the chest of his older brother, Emmanuel Okafor, 45 years.

According to him, the victim was rushed to the hospital and was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.

The spokesperson added that the incident highlighted the importance of addressing domestic violence and conflicts amongst family members.

He said it also underscores the need to manage conflicts and emotions healthily and constructively to avoid irreparable consequences.

The police spokesperson stated that the case has been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka and shall be charged to court on the conclusion of the investigation.
