
Loader dies, others injured as truck tumbles in Ogun
CITIZENS COMPASS– A loader has reportedly died while two of his colleagues were injured on Wednesday, when a MAN Diesel Truck they were traveling in, tumbled and fell on them in Ogun State.
The truck with number plate, LSR 977 XW, was driven by one Dapo Muyideen Ajala ‘m’, when it tumbled.
The driver was transporting a full load of sharp sand from Lisa to Itoki with the three loaders onboard.
They were Iliasu Adamu ‘m’, 35 years, Iliasu Balla ‘m’, 32 years and Sulaimon Mustapha ‘m’, 28 years.
The trio were said to be workers at Itoki Tipper Garage and residing at the same address.
The accident occurred at day time when the truck was descending a hill at Odo Awela and the driver lost control of the truck, causing it to tumble and fall on the loaders.
The victims sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Faith Hospital, Ijoko, for emergency treatment. Tragically, Sulaimon Mustapha was later confirmed dead, and his remains were released to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites. The other two victims are still receiving medical care.
It was learnt that the driver flee the scene on noticing the accident although efforts were ongoing to apprehend him.
The traffic police have made significant effort in clearing the wreckages by towing the accidented vehicle for inspection by the Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO).
Spokesperson, Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the accident. She said, “Preliminary investigation by Motor Traffic Division (Motopol) has commenced, and more details will be made available to members of the public.
“The Ogun State Police Command urges all motorists to exercise caution, especially on hilly terrain, and ensure their vehicles are in good working condition to prevent such unfortunate incidents.”
