CITIZENS COMPASS– LAGOS State Waterways Authority (LASWA), has apprehended a boat operator for ferrying passengers without life jackets on Epe water channels.
This took place on Saturday, 23 July, 2022 during an operation carried out by its Enforcement and Monitoring Team.
Citizens Compass gathered that LASWA also impounded the boat engine to serve as a deterrent to others.
This was disclosed on the official Facebook of LASWA.
Enforcement and Monitoring Team of the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) yesterday the 23rd of July, 2022 caught a boat operator ferrying passengers without life jackets in Epe.
The operator was apprehended and the engine of the boat was seized.
“The Authority DOES NOT condone traveling on water without a life jacket, and we continue to implore all waterways users to ensure that they wear a good life jacket before boarding the boat, however short the trip is. Erring operators will be made to face disciplinary action when caught.”
