LG chair flags-off construction of 343.8m Solomade road in Ikorodu

CITIZENS COMPASS – The Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, Lagos State, Mr Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina, on Wednesday, simultaneously flagged off the construction of 261 by 7.3 meters Solomade and 81 by 4.5 meters Adekayaja roads in the area.
The Citizen Compass reports that the projects which are scheduled to be completed in six months include construction of 522 and 81 meter drainages simultaneously, to prevent erosion.
The road construction is in line with 114 roads approved by the Lagos state government for reconstruction.
Speaking at the event, the chairman said the project was long overdue, as it remains an important link road that would ease traffic on Ayangburen palace road and adjacent to Solomade kingdom.
He said it would also boost economic and commercial activities as well as provide job opportunities for the teeming youths in the community.
“The groundbreaking of Solomade and Adekayaja road is long overdue.
“The milestone represents the culmination of tireless efforts, dedication and unrelenting passion of this present administration.
“The project is more than just a physical road rehabilitation, it is a symbol of hope and progress in the community.
“It is a testament to what can be achieved when we come together with a shared vision of a commitment to excellence,” he said.
The chairman thanked Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State for giving approval for the construction of 114 roads projects across the state.
He said the projects would be handed over to the Community Development Committee (CDC) and community leaders to take ownership for proper maintenance so that it would last long.
However, he said other six roads has been identified, among which is Itunpate road as he promised his administration attention and more dividends of democracy to the people of Ikorodu.
He also highlighted numerous projects his administration has embarked and completed among such is the construction of FolcyRabiu road, distribution of office furniture, construction of boreholes in all the wards among other infrastructural projects.
Earlier, the traditional ruler of Ikorodu, Oba Kabir Shotobi, Ayangburen of Ikorodu, represented by Chief Kayode Olomo, Basle Ojogbe, urged residents to work hand in hand with the contractor to make their job easier and appealed for street lights to beautify the road.
Also, Mr Olusanya Oshikoya, a resident, expressed gratitude to the chairman and his management team for the road and promised to ensure the road is properly monitored and maintained.
Mrs Olatokinbo Sadiq commended the council boss for his magnanimity and approval of the Solomade road.
She added that it would boost commercial activities and reduce the cost of transport and hours spent on the road.
