Lawmaker, Toyin Fayinka begins 2025 with commissioning of projects in Mushin

 

CITIZENS COMPASS–As the world ushers in the year 2025, Toyin Fayinka, the lawmaker representing Mushin Federal Constituency II, has started the new year with commissioning of projects just as he reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare and prosperity of his constituents.

He commissioned several impactful projects and awarded cash grants to 500 beneficiaries to help them start businesses of their choice.

The commissioned projects include the total rehabilitation of the Administrative Block at Mushin General Hospital, the construction of blocks of classrooms for primary school students in the Idi-Araba community, and the installation of solar-powered street lights on major roads within the constituency.

In his remarks, Hon. Fayinka noted that the projects and cash grants were part of his dedication to fostering inclusive economic growth, sustainable development, and improved access to healthcare for his constituents. He emphasized that leadership is not just a title but a responsibility and trust bestowed upon him to serve and uplift the community.

“Before my election to represent this constituency, I received numerous calls, messages, and emails from the good people of the Idi-Araba community requesting the construction and equipping of classrooms for their primary school students. Their request was driven by the need to provide quick access to quality education, comparable to other areas of the state. Today, I am delighted that their wishes have been fulfilled,” Fayinka said.

He further explained that the empowerment grants were designed to support small business owners by providing essential business skills training alongside financial aid, thereby creating economic resilience within the community.

“With good health and empowerment, our people can actively participate in the workforce and entrepreneurial activities, which will fuel our local economy,” he added.

At the commissioning of the renovated Administrative Block of Mushin General Hospital, Hon. Fayinka described the renovation as part of his effort to enhance access to quality healthcare services for residents.

“We must work together to ensure our healthcare system is not only accessible but also of the highest quality. Mushin General Hospital has always been a vital part of this community. These renovations mark a new chapter in the hospital’s journey toward becoming a model institution for healthcare in Lagos,” he said.

The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Oluyemi Taiwo, praised Hon. Fayinka for the laudable initiative, noting that the intervention would significantly enhance both infrastructure and patient care.

“This renovation is just the beginning,” Dr. Taiwo remarked. “We are committed to creating an environment that supports the physical well-being of our patients and fosters a culture of professional excellence among our staff. Our goal is to redefine healthcare excellence through innovative, patient-centered delivery services.”

The installation of solar-powered street lights in Aromire, Olufunmilayo, Layi Oyekanmi, Jumoke Way, Oloruntosin, Omoniyi, and Igbo Owu streets is expected to improve urban safety, extend business hours, and promote sustainable development.

Hon. Fayinka also reiterated his commitment to continuing his annual bursary for indigent students, free UTME forms, and coaching classes. Additionally, he pledged that the Imole Tech Hub digital and vocational training programs would proceed as planned.

The event was attended by a distinguished list of guests, including political and traditional leaders. Among them were the Olu of Mushin, Oba Fatai Ayinla Aileru; the Oba of Odi-Olowo, Oba Sikiru Olamide Williams; Yinka Kazeem Esho, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly; and Dr. Ademuyiwa Eniayewun, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Health Service Commission.

Other dignitaries included the Vice Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Hon. Tunbosun Aruwe; Secretary to the Local Government, Mrs. Bunmi Gbadamosi; Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Audit, Dr. Mrs. Ayoola; Lagos State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Alli-Balogun; Mushin NUT Chairman, Comrade Onikosi; and Education Secretary of Mushin LGEA, Princess Olufemi Akinlude, among others.

This timely intervention demonstrates Hon. Fayinka’s unwavering dedication to the development of his constituency and the well-being of his people.
