CITIZENS COMPASS-Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), over the weekend, apprehended two cart pushers and impounded 30 carts over illegal refuse collection in FESTAC area of the State.
The State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr Tokunbo Wahab disclosed this on Saturday, April 6, 2024, on his X Handle formerly known as Twitter.
He said the cart pushers were apprehended for constituting environmental pollution and causing harm to human health.
According to him, “LAWMA @Lawma_gov monitoring and enforcement team on morning duty at FESTAC town, Amuwo Odofin to apprehend some illegal cart pushers who collect refuse and waste from residents and market traders around the environment to dump illegally by the roadside, walkway, and median constituting environmental pollution and causing harm to human health.
“Two(2) cart pushers who were obstinate were apprehended, and 30 carts were seized.’
