LASEMA recovers truck from Lagos lagoon
CITIZENS COMPASS-+ LAGOS State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) on Sunday, recovered a waste disposal truck that plunged into the lagoon at the Iyana-Oworo area of the Third Mainland Bridge.
The truck belonging to Private Sector Participant (PSP), plunged into the lagoon on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 with two occupants on board.
Both were rescued unhurt on that day.
LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu led other emergency responders to the scene where the truck was recovered on Sunday.
In his final updates on the Sunday operation titled, “Operation Shark”, said,
“LASEMA has successfully concluded the retrieval of a PSP TRUCK that plunged into the Lagos Lagoon inward Iyana-Oworo on Tuesday, today Sunday 23rd October in a multi stakeholder operation that was swift and effective.
The Agency used its heavy duty equipment on land while LASWA was in the Lagoon. Supported by the Lagos Fire, LASTMA, Nigeria Police Force and FRSC, the process ran smoothly and safely under two hours.
“We regret any inconvenience caused to motorists by the operation and assure Lagosians of our commitment to the safety of their lives and property.”
