Lagos to relocate dump site in Igando, promises enhanced security

CITIZENS COMPASS—The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Housing, Mr Abdulhafis Toriola, yesterday, promised to relocate the dump sites at Igando, Alimosho are of the State with a promise to install solar lights to enhance security in the area.
He made the promise at a stakeholders’ forum at the Lateef Kayode Jakande (LKJ) Housing Estate around Hospital bus-stop, Igando area of the State.
The Permanent Secretary encouraged residents to utilise common facilities like the estate hall for events and generate income for maintenance.
He promised the residents of a collaborative approach involving the government, facility managers, and estate executives for efficient estate management.
Citizens Compass reports that the primary goal of the meeting was to educate residents on their roles in maintaining estate facilities, prompt payment of dues, adherence to estate rules, and fostering peaceful coexistence.
“The meeting was a platform for open dialogue between the Lagos State Government and residents of its housing estates. “It is also a platform aiming to foster a harmonious and sustainable living environment,” he said.
Also speaking, Mr Lasisi Akinsanya, Chairman of Igando /Ikotun LCDA, appreciated Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu for holding this kind of Forum, saying this shows the love he has for Lagos residents.
He appreciated the peaceful co-existence of the residents of the estate and prayed they continued to cooperate and live in love.
He urged them to take care of their children and advice them on why they should not go into drugs.
Mr Balogun Johnson, representing CSP Sulaiman Kabiru, DPO Igando, emphasised the need for community vigilance, drug prevention, and adherence to security guidelines.
Mr Olukotun Odunayo, representing the Fire Fighters of Lagos State, urged residents to maintain cleanliness, proper waste disposal, and fire safety precautions.
The forum was well-received by residents, who expressed gratitude for the opportunity to interact with government officials.
