Lagos to investigate petrol souvenir at party
LAGOS State Government has said it will probe sharing of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), as a souvenir at an event organised by the Erelu Okin of Kemta Kingdom, Pearl Chidinma Ogbolu.
This is just as the State government has sealed Havillah Event Centre, Oniru, where the souvenir was distributed to guests.
In a viral video which went viral on social media over the weekend, the socialite was seen handing over 10 litres gallons containing the product to her guests.
However, she has apologised to Nigerians for sharing petrol as a souvenir at her installation party.
The apology was sequel to the backlash from Nigerians over the viral video where gallons of petrol with stickers “Erelu Okin Foundation Installation Party ” were shared at the occasion.
A statement signed by Gbenga Omotoso, Commissioner, Information & Strategy reads, “The attention of the Lagos State Government has been drawn to a video showing kegs of petrol being handed out as souvenirs at an event Centre in Lagos. The video has gone viral on social media.
“There is no doubt that this action is dangerous and can lead to loss of lives and property. It is blatantly against all safety measures in such places.
“The Lagos State Government through the Safety Commission is investigating this matter and will ensure that all parties to this reprehensible action are made to account for it.
“The safety of lives and properties of Lagosians and visitors remain a top priority to the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration. We, therefore , advise that actions that can lead to loss of lives and properties be avoided.”
