Lagos rescues eight years old boy from canal
CITIZENS COMPASS – THE Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has rescued one eight years old boy, Onyeka Umeh from death.
Umeh was rescued from an open water at the extreme end of Pastor Ojediran Street behind Oba’s Palace; Ejigbo, Lagos.
The Director of the Agency, Margaret Adeseye in a statement signed on Monday, April 24, 2023, said distress call which was alerted at about 15:20.hours had Ejigbo Fire Station and the Agency’s Rescue Crew mobilized to salvage the sinking boy from the canal.
‘He was eventually handed over to the Police from Ejigbo Division to reunite with family.
‘ ‘Umeh alongside a friend was picking pet bottles among others around the canal before trailling it to his sinking spot while his companion raised the alarm leading to his eventual rescue alive.
‘ ‘It is instructive to keep close tab on our children and wards and provide the much needed guidance to preserving their safety.’ ‘
