Lagos records another truck accident

CITIZENS COMPASS —Lagos State recorded another accident involving a truck-laden with gas at Lawanson Roaf area of Surulere.
The accident occurred in the late evening as a result of mechanical failure which resulted in the gas tank detaching from the gas tank detaching from the truck head.
Traffic was diverted for hours to avoid any secondary accident.
Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu confirmed the accident to our correspondent.”Upon arrival at the scene of the incident, a gas tanker loaded with 20 cubic ft of cooking gas was found accidented.
“Further investigations revealed that the truck suffered mechanical failure while on motion which led to the gas tank detaching from the truck head.
” No life was lost and no injuries were sustained by anyone as a result of the incident
“Efforts are ongoing to carefully salvage the situation due to the highly inflammable nature of the product.
” The entire neighbourhood has been sensitised on the situation on ground while all road traffic has been diverted to mitigate against the likelihood of a fatal secondary incident.
” The Agency’s heavy duty crane has been dispatched to recover the gas tank from the road.
” Responders include LASEMA Response Team, LASG FIRE, FEDERAL FIRE, LNSC and Nigeria Police.”
At about 10.27p.m, he said,” Recovery operation is ongoing. Updates to follow.”
