CITIZENS COMPASS- A Commercial driver in Lagos, has been remanded in a correctional center for stripping himself naked and scaring the personnel of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), with faeces to prevent them from impounding seizure of his vehicle.
The incident occurred at Maryland on July 4, at day time.
This was confirmed by LASTMA spokesperson, Olumide Filade, who said the dtiver was arrested and arraigned before a magistrate’s court same day.
He noted that the driver was remanded till August 2022.
Filani stated this in reaction to a video of the driver which went viral on Wednesday.
It was observed that the driver, who spoke in Yoruba, demanded his offence as he threatened to deal with the men.
He said, “What I will do to you, you will see it.”
Afterwards, he removed his clothes and briefs, exposing his private parts.
He subsequently squatted to excrete on his hand, which he put on the face of one of the LASTMA officials.
Later, he dragged down and hit one of the officials who took over the driver’s seat.
The video generated mixed reactions from social media users.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Bolaji Oreagba, confirmed that the incident occurred in the Maryland area of the state.
The Spokesperson said, ”
“The driver has been arraigned at a magistrate’s court, where he was asked to be remanded at the Potoki Custodial Centre until August when his case would come up again.
“This only goes to show that the law will not spare any violator, however unruly you are. All LASTMA is advocating is voluntary compliance,” he added of the bus driver who smeared the officials with faeces.
