Lagos discovers 86 rooms under bridge, tenants pay N250,000 per room

CITIZENS COMPASS –Many residents of Dolphin Estate stood in awe on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, as enforcement agents discovered 86 rooms under the Dolphin Estate Bridge, Ikoyi, on Lagos Island. Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, shard the information on his X Handle formerly known as Twitter.

He said the 86 partitioned rooms were sized 10×10 and 12×10 and the occupants rented them for N250,000 which was payable annually.

The Commissioner said the make-shift rooms have been demolished by the State government.

He did not mention if some suspects were apprehended in connection to the illegal structures.

He said, “A total number of 86 rooms, partitioned into 10×10 and 12×10, and a container used for different illegal activities were discovered under the Dolphine Estate bridge. They have all been removed by the enforcement team of Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources.”
