Lagos CP Adegoke endorses 2024 NAOSNP Walks, Workshop, vows zero tolerance to crime
CITIZENS COMPASS–The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fayoade Adegoke, has endorsed the annual Walk and Workshop of the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), billed to hold on May 21 and 22, 2024 in Lagos.
The CP gave his endorsement when a delegation of the Association led by its president, Samson Oki, paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the Police headquarters, GRA, Ikeja. Other members of the NAOSNP delegates were the Public Relations Officer, Mr Eric Elezuo, and Adeola Oluwole.
Expressing his deep support for the event, Adegoke appreciated the Association for its laudable projects and support of security agencies, especially the Police over the years, adding that he is committed to a worthwhile synergy with the media for the public good.
“I am completely in support and will participate as we walk against cultism, drug abuse, and domestic violence, a tripod stand menace that has formed the bedrock of crime and criminality in the society. It is my avowed commitment to stamp out crime and any semblance of crime in Lagos as long as I am here. Our results speak for themselves, showing how we have brought crime to the lowest level and made criminals very uncomfortable in the state.
“We are not resting on our oars however, but will continue to make the state hot for criminals until they turn over a new leaf or relocate from the state,” Adegoke noted.
Responding, Mr. Oki promised a well-planned event, where all other stakeholders including the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DVSA) will actively participate.
He further hinted that day 2 of the event will witness a workshop to train journalists on appropriate reportage of security agencies, and protection of national interest and security in reporting.
The theme of the workshop is Report Nigeria, Rebrand Nigeria.
Adegoke was appointed the Lagos State Commissioner of Police in December 2023, and in a space of four months, has cleared all manners of crimes numerous to mention.
