Lady fakes wedding, relocates abroad with ‘Aso-Ebi’money
CITIZENS COMPASS —A female vendor in Imo State has reportedly relocated to Canada having planned a fake wedding, sold the ‘Aso-Ebi’(party uniform), and spent the proceeds for her relocation.
An X user, @AkiMarlin shared the experience on the handle.
According to the X user, the supposed celebrant sold ‘Aso-Ebi ’ and hand fans for ₦50,000 and ₦10,000 respectively though many guests were said to have returned home disappointed as the wedding did not hold.
The X user said the woman had provided a location for the bridal shower at a hotel, but her absence raised suspicions. Eventually, her friends discovered that there was no wedding, and the woman had reportedly flown to Canada the following day.
The woman is identified as a popular vendor around the Imo State University (IMSU). The incident has sparked reactions and discussions on social media.
One of the reactions blamed the guests for buying expensive ‘Aso-Ebi’ despite the harsh economy in Nigeria.
