Kidnappers release wife of ex-Lagos CP, Hakeem Odumosu 

…Police set bait, neutralise suspects 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS– Folashade Odumosu, the wife of a former Lagos State Commissioner of Police, has regained her freedom from kidnappers’ den.

It was learnt that the Nigeria Police Force rescued the victim on Wednesday.

Sources said that the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, led the operation that successfully rescued the woman.

Force spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the release on Thursday.

He said during the operation, the kidnappers were neutralised as the operatives recovered the ransom paid to them as bait.

However, he refused to disclose the amount paid to the kidnappers or where exactly the victim was rescued.

Adejobi said the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, commended the CP and police operatives for the rescue efforts.

The Force spokesman reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police to safeguard Nigerians and the nation.

Citizens Compass reported on Friday, that suspected gunmen kidnapped Mrs Odumosu, in the Arepo, Ifo Local Government area of Ogun State.

The incident reportedly occurred at about 9p.m on Thursday.

Citizens Compass reported that Odumosu is a retired Assistant-Inspector General of Police and the Liaison Officer of the defunct Lagos Parks Management Committee headed by Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya popularly known as Mc Oluomo.

It was gathered that the kidnappers wearing masks waylaid Mrs Odumosu’s vehicle while she was approaching her residence, dragged her out and whisked her to an unknown destination.

Spokesperson, Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta on Friday.

She said the victim was about to enter her home when hoodlums accosted her Lexus Jeep

According to her, Mrs Odumosu was dragged out of the Jeep, and taken through a swampy area to an unknown location.

“The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the area has led a team of officers to the scene, where they are currently searching the swampy bush area.

The Baale of Warewa and Maaba have been contacted to also deploy local security forces to the riverine area,” she said.
