Justice Forum reacts to botched primary election in Igbogbo-Baiyeku
CITIZENS COMPASS — The Justice Forum under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (IBLCDA), Ikorodu Division, in Lagos, on Monday, said a botched primary election recently experienced within the Forum, was primarily an internal affair.
The Apex leader of the Forum and former Secretary to Lagos State Government, Pa Reuben Olorunfunmi Basorun, in a telephone conversation with Citizens Compass, said the botched election was an internal affairs of the Forum which would be resolved without interference of any Third party.
He said, “It is an internal affairs of the House. Quote me.”
The internal crisis was evident on Saturday following the botched primary election.
The shortlisted chairmanship aspirants were Gbenga Oshin, Matthew Kolade Olufemi (MKO) Arowolo, Hammed Aroyewun, and Okedina Maja among others.
Investigations revealed that some of the aspirants had been with the Forum for over a decade.
The crisis started when an aspirant could not find his name on the ballot paper.
This led to a heated argument which degenerated into a crisis during which some serving honourable members were beaten up by some angry youths over non performance in office as reasons.
Feelers from Justice Forum said that the aspirant whose name was not in the ballot paper was one of those who indicated interest towards the last quarter of Year 2024 whereas the shortlisted aspirants have met the criteria for the primaries.
However, Pa Basorun said whatever has transpired on Saturday was an internal affair.
