Japa: NGO urges govt to train, empower youths with skills
CITIZENS COMPASS —A Non-Governmental Organisation, Superior Performance Global Network (SPGN) has urged government at all levels to empower youths with the knowledge and skills needed to become effective leaders in their communities.
Mr Segun Odufuwa, SPGN coordinator, gave the advice during the youth sensitisation programme on effective leadership in Lagos.
According to him, empowering them with knowledge and skills would reduce unemployment, boost human capacity and discourage them from japa syndrome.
“We urge government at all levels to develop youths by empowering and inspiring them for nation building.
“This will help shift their mind set from being desperate to travel abroad for greener pastures,” he said
Odufuwa urged youths to also engage in learning and networking thereby exploring perspectives that would encourage them to break free from conventional boundaries.
He also advised them to embrace new possibilities in various spheres of life.
He enjoined young people to focus on cultivating leadership skills and fostering a sense of responsibility.
“They should seek to inspire a change in their mindset and foster a culture of innovation, resilience, and leadership amongst them.
“On our part, we have continued to inspire youths, give them required skills and knowledge to build themselves as future leaders.
“We invite professionals with diverse backgrounds, creating a platform for collaboration and exchange of ideas.
“With this they have opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, build valuable relationships, and expand their professional network,” Odufuwa said.
Mr Johnson Adekogbe, one of the participants appreciated the convener on youth development and advised others to believe in their ability, explore the opportunities here in as a Nation builder
