Ikorodu LG partners to train 40 women on entrepreneurial skills

CITIZENS COMPASS – The Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina, has pledged to collaborate with Teefrank International Limited to train 40 women on entrepreneurial skills.
Adesina, at the training programme, which commenced on Wednesday in Ikorodu, Lagos, said it would focus on bead making and catering, with certificates issued upon completion.
He emphasised the importance of empowering women to be self-reliant in society.
Adesina noted that the council would support the beneficiaries in acquiring their chosen skills.
“This training and empowerment programme will go a long way in building the lives of women in our community,” he said.
The council boss also announced plans to mobilise an additional 20 women to join the Lagos State Government’s entrepreneurial training programme.
He expressed gratitude to Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and renowned university lecturers for the opportunity.
Prof. Jubril Jawando, a consultant from the Department of Sociology, Lagos State University, highlighted the importance of providing women with various entrepreneurial skills to achieve multiple streams of income.
He encouraged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the opportunity to improve their lives.
Mr Shamsudeen Longe, a political leader, advised the beneficiaries to be cautious when selecting business ventures.
Also speaking, Alhaja Rasheedat Bello, special adviser to the council chairman on woman affairs, urged the women to pass the knowledge acquired to others.
Mrs Jomoke Ishaq, a beneficiary, urged her fellow participants to cooperate with the consultants for a smooth transfer of knowledge.
