Ikorodu LG chair Inaugurates dual projects

CITIZENS COMPASS –The Council Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government on Monday, flagged off the construction of a block of four classrooms at African Bethel Primary School and two-side drainages at Dada street in Ikorodu, Lagos
Speaking at the Inauguration, Mr Wasiu Adesina, the council Chairman of Ikorodu LGA said his administration has prioritised Infrastructural development of communities in the area.
The Citizen Compass reports that the block of four classrooms is scheduled to be completed between November 2024 to Jan 2025 while the drainage construction is meant for two months, November 2024 to February 2025.
He said that the school, which was founded in 1916 has produced many notable sons and daughters of Ikorodu who had thrived in different sectors and as such must be prioritised.
“Today we are flagging off two important projects in ward D area which are very key and important to the Ikorodu community.
“The first one is a legacy project which is the construction of one block of four classrooms that has produced eminent persons in Ikorodu.
“The second one is the construction of two-side drainage that will mitigate against flood that has been ravaging the area.
“The council will not allow structures to decay before embarking on rehabilitation in fulfilment of our campaign promises,” he said.
The council chairman promised to handover the projects to the leaders and the Community Development Association(CDA) for proper monitoring and maintainance and advised residents to cooperate with the contractor for smooth delivery.
Ealier, Mr Bolaji Oreagba, the Olumale Eluku of Ikorodu, express gratitude to the council chairman for considering identifying Itunpate and listening to the yarnings of the residents on challenges faced especially during the rainy season.

Similarly, Mrs Folasade Olabanji-Oba, the vice chairman of Ikorodu LG urged residents to pay their taxes to attract more developmental projects in their area.
In her remarks, Mrs Mary Fatola, Headmistress of Bethel primary school appreciated the council chairman and asked for his kind gesture and urged him on more projects to benefit the students.
Similarly, Mr Bolade Arogunre, the CDA chairman, appealed to the council chairman to complement the drainage construction with road rehabilitation and installation of solar power to light up the community against insecurity.
