CITIZENS COMPASS —Mr Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina, Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, on Monday, directed all market leaders to register all markets operating within the council area.
He disclosed this during the commemoration of tree planting day at Jamatul Islamiyat Primary School in Ikorodu, Lagos.
He said that the registration becomes necessary to enable the council to have an in-depth knowledge on their infrastructural challenges and future planning on construction and expansion.
“I have directed all the market heads in Ikorodu Central to come and register their markets with the council secretariat.
“Registration is important to make necessary plans for improvement,” he said.
On tree planting, the chairman said that it provides human beings with the oxygen they breathe, offer shade, shelter and sustenance to countless species including humans and also mitigates climate change.
However, he concluded that positive change starts with people planting and monitoring trees, “we are sowing the seeds for a better future.
“It is our collective responsibility to continually plant trees and work towards a sustainable future.
“Each planted tree is a symbol of hope, a promise of greener and healthier tomorrow.
“Let us nurture these trees with care and watch them grow into mighty trees that will stand for years to come,” he said.
