Ikorodu Council boss appoints 13-man committee on one year coronation of Alagura

... To build cathedral for Christians

CITIZENS COMPASS —The Chairman of Ikorodu local Government of Lagos State, Hon. Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina on Friday, January 5, 2024, appointed a 13-man planning committee for the one year coronation anniversary of the traditional ruler of Agura, Oba Ahmed Ogunderu, the (Alagura of Agura 11).

Adesina made the pronouncement during the prayer session for the beginning of another year at the council secreteriat in Ikorodu, Lagos State.

According to him, the coronation anniversary has become significant as tradition to a first-class monarch to appreciate God and his community since his ascension on the throne of  his forefathers.

“Agura kingdom is under Ikorodu local government and the king is also very important to us as a first class Oba, (Monarch).

“The king approached us that we should stand by him in celebrating one year which is very important. 

“After the monarch involved us, the  council decided to set up a 13-man committee to plan for a beffiting anniversary,” he said.

Similarly, the council boss engaged all the Heads of departments in the prayers for God guidance, ushering better things and a successful 2024 fiscal year.

Adesina also promised to build a new cathedral for Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN) as a worship centre for the Christian faith.

“Today also, we have prayed for God’s guidance at the beginning of another year with a promise to build a worship centre to our Christian faith,” he said.

The chairman urged residents of Agura to support and stand by the monarch in ensuring a smooth celebration and promised to provide solar power street lights, grading of inner roads among other things to the community this year.

He announced  Mr Babatunde Rotinwa as the chairman and Mr Lateef Afinni as the secretary of the 13-man committee to plan and make the anniversary a memorable one.

The Council Chairman announced members to include; Alh. Junaid Owokoodu, Engr. Martins Odupitan, Alh. Lateef Afinni, Alh. Rasheedat Bello, Hon. Adebowale Adebola, Iya oloja Ikorodu central, Chief Mrs Animashaun Idowu (iyalode of Agura).

He added Hon. Abideen Fasasi, Chief Badru Fatai (Baale ipomi), Prince Lasisi Adeniyi, Prince Adewunmi Amusa, Hon. Shafari Murisiku and Hon. Lateef Oyefusi.

Rotinwa commended the chairman for his outstanding achievement and thanked him for the opportunity given to him and promised to bring in his wealth of experience as chairman Local Service Commission in ensuring a hitch free celebration 

“I commend the chairman for his sterling performance in 2023 and call on all the members to let us work together harmoniously in ensuring successful celebration,” he said.
