CITIZENS COMPASS — The Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos State, Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina, has commenced drilling of boreholes across five wards under his jurisdiction.

He reinstated his commitment to provision of free portable water to residents.

Adesina commenced drilling of the boreholes on Thursday during the inspection of one of the drilled boreholes at Eleshin area of ward G in Ikorodu.

Citizens Compass reports that the five communities where the construction of the boreholes are cited are; Eleshi, Itunla, Sholafun, Anibaba and Lowa.

He said as a local government, it is expected that people feel the impact of government no matter how little it could be adding that the boreholes would be powered by solar power while some would be manual using the generator.

“We have commenced construction of boreholes across five wards to ensure availability of free clean portable  water to the people

“This is another humanitarian project, a must-do service to our good people in fulfillment of our campaign promises.

He said the intervention was inline with THEME’S  agenda of Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwoolu’s administration in providing health care and access to clean water for Lagosians.

The borehole, which was drilled in the community, last Saturday, was greeted by dancing and celebration as the residents could not contain their excitement and happiness.

“I see this project of providing clean, portable and quality water to this community as a must-do service to our good people, though we will do more as we proceed in the issue of governance.

“Provisions of free and quality water to all the wards in the local government is part of our manifestoes during our campaign.

“People go through a lot of hassles to get drinking water, especially during the dry season.

“With this intervention now, residents will now have access to water.”
