Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA rejigs Inter-Religious Council committee

CITIZENS COMPASS – Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Ikorodu Division in Lagos State, on Tuesday, rejigged the moribound the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC) committee to foster peace and unity within the LCDA.

The Council Chairman, Olusesan Daini, inaugurated the Nigeria NIREC committee consisting three Christian leaders, three Muslim leaders, and one representative each from the Adeboruwa Palace, Olubeshe Palace, and Elepe Palace.

Addressing the Committee during the inauguration, Daini, popularly known as Builder Sesan Daini said the establishment of NIREC in the LCDA would serve as a proactive measure to promote peaceful coexistence, enhance mutual understanding, and encourage interfaith dialogue among the diverse religious and cultural groups within the community.

The purpose of NIREC in the LCDA is to provide a platform for fostering harmony and collaboration among religious leaders and stakeholders to address issues affecting the community. Through regular engagement and dialogue, NIREC aims to prevent religious tensions, promote tolerance, and build a cohesive society where differences are respected and celebrated.

According to the Chairman, the NIREC committee would play a pivotal role in ensuring that religion becomes a tool for peace and progress rather than division.

The traditional representatives from the Palaces also pledged their support, emphasising that inter-faith unity is essential for sustainable development.

This historic initiative marks a new chapter in the collective effort to maintain peace, promote understanding, and build a stronger, more inclusive community.
