How local food kills widow, children

 

CITIZENS COMPASS—A widow and her five children have been confirmed dead after eating a local delicacy, Danwake, a local Hausa delicacy in Kano State.

The Incident reportedly occurred on Thursday after the widow was said to have used expired cassava flour to prepare the food.

The widow, Alhakatu Abdulkarim and her five children; Bashir, Firdausi, Hafsat, Usman and Jamilu were said to have lost their lives to the incident.

The Kano State Police Command confirmed the death in a statement saying the departed family were residents of Karkari village, Gwarzo Local Government Area of the State.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, said the six members of the family who ate the food were rushed to Gwarzo General Hospital where they were confirmed dead by doctors.

According to him, an investigation had commenced to ascertain the cause of their death.

“We are still waiting for the medical report from the hospital to ascertain the cause of the death of the six persons,” he said.
