Hit and run driver knocks down pedestrian in Lagos

…As fire guts car 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS—A hit and run driver has knocked down a pedestrian at Onipanu, Lagos.

The incident occurred inward Palm Grove at day time on Tuesday.

Spokesperson, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Nosa Okunbor gave the updates to Citizens Compass saying, “In response to a distress alert on a hit and run incident at Onipanu inward Palmgrove, near the LASEMA Response Base, the Agency activated it’s Cobra Response Team. 

“Upon arrival at the scene of incident, a young, adult male pedestrian was found knocked down on the walkway by a careless Dispatch Rider.

“Further investigations conducted by the LRT revealed that the young adult of about 21 years old, who identified himself simply as Damilola, suffered a fractured foot at the above mentioned location, while the Dispatch Rider absconded immediately.

“The victim was given immediate medical treatment by Paramedics from the LASEMA Pre-Hospital Care Unit at the incident scene, before being speedily transported to the Trauma Center at 7-Up/Tollgate, for further medical attention.

“The victim is reportedly responding to medical treatment.”

Similarly, a Toyota Sienna caron Wednesday, went up in flames  at 2nd Rainbow, along Oshodi-Apapa expressway.

Okunbor gave the details thus: 

“In response to distress calls to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, via the 767/112 Toll-Free Emergency lines at 1330hrs activated it’s Response Team from Cappa Base.

“Upon arrival of the LRT at the incident scene, a Toyota Sienna car, registration number unknown, was found burnt in the middle of the road, obstructing vehicular movement.

“Fortunately, no life was lost. No injury was sustained as a result of the incident.

“The Agency’s Response Team activated necessary Safety and Traffic Control measures to safeguard responders during the operation. 

“The LRT coordinated the recovery operation at the incident scene, while also collaborating with LASTMA in traffic control and diversion of oncoming vehicles at the incident scene.

“Agency’s Response Team activated the necessary sophisticated, heavy-duty equipment-the Hiab, for a quick and safe recovery of the burnt car.

“LASEMA Response Team in collaboration with other responders has recovered the impediment off the road and taken it to LASTMA yard at Oshodi.

“Recovery operation is  concluded.”
