Hisbah makes U-Turn, clears commissioner accused of affair with married woman
CITIZENS COMPASS – Kano State Hisbah Board, has retracted to the earlier claims that fueled widespread allegations of misconduct against Jigawa State’s Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Sankara.
Malam Aliyu Dakata, an official of the Board disclosed this to newsmen on Tuesday.
The accusations, which painted Sankara in a negative light over an alleged illicit affair with a married woman, Tasleem Baba Nabegu, have now been debunked, clearing the commissioner of any wrongdoing.
In a recent interview, Dakata clarified the situation, stating that the initial reports had been misleading. According to him, when Hisbah operatives arrived at the scene, they found Tasleem in her car making a phone call while Sankara stood outside a building under construction, which belonged to him. There was no evidence of an inappropriate relationship between the two.
“When we arrived, Tasleem was simply on a phone call in her car, and Sankara was outside his property. There was nothing to suggest any immoral activity,” Dakata confirmed, dispelling the viral narrative that had quickly spread on social media.
The initial allegations triggered a media frenzy and led to Sankara’s suspension by the Jigawa State governor pending an investigation. However, recent developments, including a statement from Tasleem’s legal counsel, Barrister Rabiu Shuaibu, have further supported Sankara’s innocence.
Shuaibu explained that Tasleem had been estranged from her husband for over 10 months due to issues of domestic violence. On the day of the incident, Tasleem had been delivering food to Sankara, who had placed an order, unaware that her husband was monitoring her movements.
“Tasleem has been separated from her husband for almost a year and is focused on providing for her children through her business. She was simply delivering food to the commissioner, and her husband, who had been tracking her, misunderstood the situation,” Shuaibu stated.
Reacting to the initial claims, Sankara condemned the allegations as baseless and politically motivated, calling them a deliberate attempt to tarnish his reputation.
“These accusations are entirely false and malicious. I hold the institution of marriage in high regard and would never engage in such behaviour. This is clearly a politically motivated attack on my character,” Sankara said, urging the public to disregard the unfounded claims.
With this new information, it appears that Sankara has been vindicated, and attention has now shifted to the motives behind the false allegations.
