Help! My daughter is innocent, mother of ex-queen of Ooni cries out
CITIZENS COMPASS–The mother of the former queen of the Ooni of Ife, Prophetess Naomi Silekunola Ogunwusi, has said that her daughter knew nothing about the Ibadan, Oyo State tragedy where over 30 children lost their lives in a stampede during a Yuletide funfair.
In a trending video on Thursday, Naomi’s mother absolved her daughter of the tragedy.
Recall that the former queen has been remanded at the Agodi Prison, Ibadan following investigations into the children’s death.
She was alleged to have organized the event alongside other people.
Naomi was remanded alongside the owner of Agidigbo FM, the school principal and others.
The mother pleaded for mercy for her daughter.
She said, “Nigerians, please help me. My daughter is innocent,”
According to her, Naomi’s wish wasn’t to kill the children but to help the needy as she has been doing for a very long time.
The incident has sparked widespread debate, with many criticizing the lack of adequate security and crowd control at the event. Others have called for a comprehensive investigation to determine all parties responsible for the disaster.
