CITIZENS COMPASS – The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited, on Sunday, said it was intensifying Search and Rescue into Thursday’s helicopter crash which occurred in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Citizens Compass reported that eight personnel of the NNPCL were onboard the helicopter when it crashed.
Recall that the helicopter was operated by East Winds Aviation when the crash was recorded.
Olufemi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer, NNPC Ltd, disclosed this in a statement.
According to him, “The NNPC Ltd wishes to announce that beyond the three bodies found in the ill-fated helicopter operated by East Winds Aviation that crashed on Thursday in Port Harcourt, no other bodies have been recovered.
“The Company further notes that intensified search and rescue operations for the remaining bodies along with relevant authorities are still ongoing.
“Once again, our hearts and prayers are with family members of this unfortunate incident.”
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau ( NSIB), said it has recovered another body, bringing the total bodies recovered to four.
NSIB stated that at exactly 4:00 PM, a floating body was retrieved from the water by the Fast Rescue Craft, FRC, and was escorted by the Cameroonian Navy to NUIMS Antan, for safe transit through their territorial waters.
