CITIZENS COMPASS –Unknown gunmen on Monday, opened fire on the former chairman of Irewole Local Government, Osun State, Remi Abass, killing him on the spot.
The deceased was among the local government chairmen sacked by the Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo in November, 2022.
His death occurred at the local government secretariat in Ikire.
According to eyewitnesses’ accounts, the assailants stormed the secretariat in broad daylight, firing multiple gunshots.
An eye who pleaded anonymity said, “It was sudden and chaotic. People ran for safety,”
Confirming the incident, spokesperson, Osun State Police Command, SP Yemisi Opalola, said, “We are working to apprehend the perpetrators and restore calm in the area,” said Police Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola.
