Government announces public holiday

 

CITIZENS COMPASS—In commemorate of her Founders’ Day, which falls on Sunday , the Government of Ghana has declared Monday, August 5, as public holiday.

The Interior Minister of Ghana, Henry Quartey, announced this in a statement on Sunday, August 4, 2024 saying it is a statutory public holiday, but since it falls on a Sunday, President Akufo-Addo has declared the following day, Monday, as an additional public holiday.

This declaration follows Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days
Act, (Act 601).

“The public is hereby informed that Monday,
August 5, should be observed as a public
holiday throughout the country.”
