Galadanci heads Friends of the Hospital Committee at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital
THE Galadima Garin to Sokoto, Alhaji Aliyu Attahiru Galadanci, has been nominated to chair the Friends of the Hospital Committee at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto, (UDUTHS), Sokoto State.
(UDUTHS) management inaugurated the committee on Tuesday, to assist the Hospital in soliciting support and assistance from philanthropists, corporate organisations and members of the business communities,
At the inauguration, the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Prof. Anas Ahmad Sabir, expressed appreciation and gratitude to the committee members for accepting to assist the Hospital, despite their respective tight schedules.
The CMD described the work of Friends of the Hospital Committee as central to growth and development of the tertiary health institution, since, according to him, government alone cannot be left with catering for all the needs of health institutions in the country.
Therefore, he said, for the Hospital to provide effective and efficient health care services, there is need for support from philanthropists, NGOs and corporate organisations to come to assist, particularly UDUTHS.
He acknowledged that some individuals had been supporting the Hospital but, however, there is still the need to establish an appropriate channel, to get more supports from philanthropists, NGOs and corporate organisations towards ensuring optimal tertiary healthcare delivery to ever increasing patients of the Hospital.
Prof. Sabir, the CMD, said membership of the committee was carefully selected, based on experience, knowledge and their contributions to development of humanity.
He also promised to provide all the necessary support and cooperation that would ease the committee’s assignment and even as the healthcare chief assured them that their recommendations and advice would be judiciously utilized.
In his acceptance speech, the Chairman, UDUTHS Friends of the Hospital Committee, Alh. Aliyu Attahiru Galadanci, who is Galadima Garin Sokoto, thanked the management for finding him and his other committee members worthy to serve the institution in that capacity.
Alhaji Galadanci described the committee’s work as a service to humanity and therefore, called on the members to use their wealth of experience and knowledge towards achieving the objectives with which the committee was created.
He promised that the committee would give what it takes to justify the confidence reposed in them.
Other members include, Alhaji Muhammad Lawal Maidoki (Sadaukin Sakkwato), Executive Secretary, Sokoto State Zakkat and Endowment Commission, Alhaji Hamza Isah Gwadabawa, a retired Permanent Secretary and proprietor Al-Huda Schools, Sokoto and Alhaji Muazu Bello Maiwurno, Chairman, Sokoto State Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture.
Others are Prof. Nasiru Musa Yauri, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto; Prof Muhammad Aliyu Makusidi, Head, Department of Internal Medicine, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto; Alhaji Usmmaru Musa Yeldu, Managing Director, Hydrocarbon Nigeria Limited and Honorable Ubaida Bello Muhammad, Special Adviser to the Sokoto State Governor on Non-Governmental Organisations.
The Committee has Alhaji Bashir Hussain, Deputy Director Human Resources of the Hospital, as Secretary, according to details provided by Mansur Wadata, Principal Information Officer of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto.
