Fubara vacates government house

CITIZENS COMPASS– Following the declaration of emergency rule on Rivers State, the suspended state governor Siminalayi Fubara, on Wednesday, vacated the Government House in Port Harcourt.

This would pave way for the expected arrival of the newly appointed sole administrator, Admiral Ekwe Ibas (rtd).

Fubara vacated the Government house in the morning.

Recall that the Sole Administrator was appointed on Tuesday.

A security source confirmed that there had been a complete change of guard at the state’s seat of power, with all of the governor’s security details replaced. “The governor left Government House this morning, and the new administrator is yet to resume. We are expecting him any moment from now. The security details in Government House have been reshuffled. I can tell you that everywhere is calm, and nothing is happening as we speak now,” the source stated.

Despite the political situation, residents of Port Harcourt have continued their daily activities without disruption. There have been no reports of unrest or any breakdown of law and order in the city.

Citizens Compass reported that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared a State of Emergency and suspended Fubara, Deputy and House of Assembly members citing ongoing pipeline vandalism and the inability of political leaders to resolve the crisis despite multiple interventions as reasons for the emergency rule.
