FRSC officer recuperating after allegedly shot by man in Police uniform

 

CITIZENS COMPASS– Few days after being allegedly shot by a man in Police uniform, an official with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos State Sector Command, was said to be recuperating.

One of his colleagues who spoke with Citizens Compass on the condition of anonymity disclosed this on weekend.

Although the official did not give further details about the shooting, he said the official was gradually regaining his health.

The FRSC official was reportedly shot and wounded by the man during an enforcement operation regarding number plates.

The incident occurred amid the FRSC’s nationwide crackdown on the use of fake number plates.

The incident was said to have taken place on Thursday as the official and his colleagues were conducting checks under the supervision of Lagos Sector Commander, Kehinde Hamzat who has since declined comments about it.

The operation was captured in a video where some FRSC officials were seen attending to the situation.

In the video, an operational vehicle was seen with some of the officials assisting their injured colleague into it.

A man in a Police uniform was seen on the floor.

A background voice was heard saying that there were two suspects but one was apprehended while the other drove off the scene.

On weekend, a colleague of the official said he was recuperating and was under medical attention at an undisclosed hospital in Lagos.

At press time, spokesperson, Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, could not be reached.

The exercise has since been suspended by the sector command.
