Former Chief of Army Staff Taoreed Lagbaja, laid to rest 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS – Amidst tears and grief, the former Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, was laid to rest on Friday, in Abuja.

This rounded off a two-day burial plan which kicked off on Thursday as his body arrived Abuja from Lagos State.

The burial took place at the National Cemetery, Abuja.

Lagbaja’s body was lowered to Mother Earth at exactly 4:41 p.m after the ceremony that lasted for about three hours.

casket, draped in Nigeria’s Green and White colours, arrived at the cemetery at about 3 p.m in a white funeral wagon after a funeral service at the National Christian Centre in Abuja.

The ceremony attracted dignitaries from all walks of life including the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President, Kashim Shettima; the Acting Chief of Army Staff, Lt.Gen. Olufemi Oluyede; the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa and the Minister of Defence, Abubakar Badaru among others.

Citizens Compass reported that Lagbaja died at the age of 56 after battling an undisclosed ailment.

A funeral service was held on Friday morning at the National Christian Centre.

On June 19, 2023, he was appointed the Chief of Army Staff by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
