Football lovers express concern over Ibrahim Babangida’s death
CITIZENS COMPASS – Football lovers across Nigeria on Friday, May 10, 2024, expressed condolences as the remains of the1993 FIFA U-17 World Cup winner, Ibrahim Babangida, was laid to rest in Kaduna State.
The Superstar died in an autocrash, which also left his brother and ex-Super Eagles winger, Tijani Babangida, his wife, son and maid hospitalised.
The tragedy which occurred along Zaria road led to Ibrahi’s death while other occupants in the car were taken to the hospital, where they are responding to treatment.
Tijani is president of the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN).
A statement by the General Secretary of (PFAN), Emmanuel Babayaro, confirmed Babangida died in the crash.
Fans took to their X accounts to pen tribute messages for Babangida and raise prayers for his surviving family.
@tosinadeda wrote, “Prayers up for Tijani Babangidathe 1993s wife. Rest in peace to the brother Ibrahim. Sad day for Nigerian football.”
