Fire guts shanties at Tejuosho in Lagos
CITIZENS COMPASS –Several wooden shanties were on Wednesday, gutted by fire behind Tejuosho Market and NTA Channel 10, Tejuosho, Lagos State.
The incident occurred at about 12:19p.m.
There was no record of death or injuries following the incident which was confirmed by the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyintolu.
In his updates titled, “Situation report Regarding a fire outbreak at Tejuosho Street, behind Tejuosho Market and NTA Tejuosho, he said, “Upon arrival at the incident scene, it was discovered that several wooden shanties at the along Tejuosho canal (comprising shops and residences) were gutted by fire. Further information revealed that the fire started from one of the rooms where a member of the community had left food cooking unattended to.
“The fire quickly spread to several wooden blocks along the canal.
Fortunately no injuries sustained presently and no loss of life.
“Emergency responders present are LASEMA, Lagos Fire Service, LNSC, NPF.
Fire combat is presently ongoing to prevent the fire from spreading to adjoining buildings like NTA , Oba Tejuosho house, and other residential estates.”
As at Wednesday evening, he said, “The fire has been completely extinguished by the combined efforts of all stakeholders, dampening down has been completed. Operation concluded.”
