CITIZENS COMPASS – A fire outbreak has engulfed the popular Eco Fitness Hub in Gwarinpa, Abuja, where property worth millions of Naira were destroyed.
Videos of the incident were seen on social media which captured smoke billowing from the popular fitness hub.
According to eyewitnesses’ accounts, the fire had been burning for over an hour before emergency responders arrived.
It was gathered that multiple calls were made to the Federal Fire Service, but it took an hour before the arrival of the emergency service.
The fire was already intense and spreading to a neighbouring building by the time firefighters arrived.
Sources said while the Fire Service eventually made it to the scene the fire had degenerated and consumed most items.
At press time, the cause of the fire outbreak remains unknown.
It was gathered that no fewer than 50 persons were inside the fitness centre when the fire started but all were said to have escaped as soon as the fire was noticed.
Updates are expected as investigations continue, and more details emerge regarding the extent of the fire’s impact on Eco Fitness Hub and neighbouring properties.
