Fire consumes Eight rooms in Lagos 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS– A bungalow building consisting of Eight rooms has been gutted by fire in the early hours of Monday, July 28, 2024, in Idimu area of Lagos State.

The incident occurred at about 1.45a.m., at 21, Shibukola Street, Council Bus-Stop in the Alimosho area.

Details of the incident were contained in an update by the spokesman, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Nosa Okunbor, at about 4.46a.m, on Monday.

“In response to distress calls received by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, through the 767/112 Toll-Free Emergency lines at 0145hrs, the Agency activated it’s Dolphin Response Team from the Igando Base.

“Upon arrival at the scene, responders discovered an 8-room bungalow engulfed in flames at the aforementioned address.

“Further investigations revealed that the fire started from the roof parts of the last room before spreading quickly to the rest of the building.

“As of the time of filing the Preliminary Report, the immediate cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.

“No casualties nor injuries were recorded in the incident, though the affected building was fully occupied as of the time of the fire incident, as all occupants escaped unhurt.

“Safety measures were activated by all members of the multi-agency response teams to safeguard responders at the incident scene during the operation.

“LRT coordinated the operation in collaboration with the LASG Fire and Rescue officials.

“The bungalow involved in the fire incident at the aforementioned location, an 8-room stand-alone property worth millions of naira, was completely razed.

“A significant quantity of household properties, equally worth millions of naira, were salvaged through the efforts of occupants and the Response Teams during the operation.

“Collaborative efforts of responders contained the fire and prevented it from spreading to adjoining buildings.

“The situation has been brought under control.

“Dampening down operation is over.

“Recovery operations have been concluded.

“In attendance:* LASEMA Response Team, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, and the Nigerian Police Force.”
