CITIZENS COMPASS – FOR inability to recite the Holy Quran, a father has inflicted injuries on his 11-year-old son in Lagos State.
The incident occurred in Meiran area of the state.
Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) went after the father after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
DSVA spokesperson Joke Ladenegan-Oginni who disclosed this said the father is cooling his heels with the Police in Meiran division while the boy in undergoing medical treatment at press time.
The video of the assault went viral on social media after belt whips by the suspect caused excessive bleeding.
Ladenegan-Oginni disclosed that the agency received a report regarding the 11-year-old boy from a concerned citizen.
“The boy has haematuria (blood in urine), two episodes of loss of consciousness, bleeding from the ears and nostrils,’’ she said.
” The child is receiving medical attention facilitated by the Lagos State Ministry of Health and the Primary Health Care Board.”
Ladenegan-Oginni urged residents to report all cases of abuse, assault and sexual violence against persons to the agency.
