Farmer allegedly kills two for stealing kola nuts, plantain
CITIZENS COMPASS –An Ondo State farmer in Ondo State simply identified as Adegoke has allegedly beaten two people to death for stealing his farm produce.
The Ondo State Police Command confirmed the incident to newsmen on Sunday.
According to the Command, both men were killed on the farm located at Ore in the Odigbo Local Government Area of the state last week.
Adegoke was said to have claimed that the deceased and some others from the neighbouring community had been stealing produce from his farm.
The suspected thieves were said to have also stolen his motorcycle parked on the farm.
A source said on the fateful day, Adegoke was said to have met some people again on the farm.
He allegedly engaged the intruders in a fight, killing two and injuring others.
The source said, “Some suspected thieves had been stealing Adegoke’s farm produce. Before now, his cocoa, kola nuts, and plantains had been missing from his farm often. The thieves had also stolen his motorcycle on the same farm.
“But he caught some people on the farm again and beat them to stupor, and in the process, two died, and others were injured.”
Reacting, spokesperson for the Command, Funmilayo Odunlami, said the suspect had been arrested as investigations into the matter had commenced.
“Investigation into the incident is ongoing,” She said.
