CITIZENS COMPASS–Former Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo, is currently in a divorce mess with his ex-wife, Sonia Adesuwa, calling him out over the issue.
Sonia, on recently, took to social media, requesting the football legend to retrieve the bride price he paid during their traditional wedding.
The post was in response to the rumours that the Super Eagles striker might be planning to remarry which is now a subject of discussion among social media influencers.
In the post, Sonia explained that her father had solely financed her traditional wedding with the Super Eagles hero.
She expressed frustration that the family of the Super Eagles striker family had disrespected him by not showing up to collect the bride price, despite her previous arrangements.
“Make plans to collect your bride price. Remember when I arranged this three or four years ago, but your family didn’t turn up? I spent money preparing a lovely farewell party with food and entertainment, only for you all to waste it.”
She also mentioned that Ighalo’s family disrespected her father by keeping him and other elders waiting during the traditional marriage proceedings. Sonia recalled how Ighalo’s elder brother, according to the footballer, allegedly avoided visiting her father’s home out of fear.
Sonia urged Ighalo to send representatives from his village or Sir Clement Ighalo, who is responsible for handling such matters, to collect the bride price and put an end to the lingering issues between them.
The ongoing public spat between the former couple has sparked widespread interest, as they continue to address their unresolved marital matters online.
Ighalo and Sonia, who married in 2009 and parted ways in 2019, had a brief reunion in 2021 before finalising their divorce in 2022. Since their split, Ms Adesuwa appears to be navigating a rollercoaster of emotions, often expressing her thoughts openly.
