CITIZENS COMPASS–The Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), has arrested eight persons for the erecting an unauthorized shrine on a prominent road in Egbe, Ikotun area of Lagos State.
The state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this on weekend, on his X Handle formerly known as Twitter.
He said the suspects were apprehended with a cache of charms and amulets in their possession.
It was learned that the State Government swung into action following a hint from concerned Nigerians.
The post reads, “Eight people were arrested for constructing a shrine on the main road at Egbe, Ikotun,.
“They were arrested with charms and amulets, and the building has been demolished, Wahab stated in his post, emphasizing the severity of the offense.
He said the confiscated charms and amulets added another layer of illegality to the situation, necessitating swift and decisive measures.
The structures have since been demolished.
