Driver, passengers trapped in fatal accident
CITIZENS COMPASS– THE driver of a commercial bus and twelve passengers were trapped on Tuesday, in a fatal accident involving a commercial bus and a truck in Lagos State.
One of them died on the spot.
The incident occurred when the bus ran into the petrol tanker by Secretariat before Oando Filling Station inward Otedola Bridge, Lagos.
The prompt arrival of operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) saved the accident from recording more casualities.
Adebayo Taofik, Spokesperson of the Authority, said the accident which occurred at about 5pm had the driver of the commercial bus with number plate, KJA 364 YA and another 12 passengers trapped.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the commercial bus suffered brake failure and ran into a tanker trailer while on motion by Otedola Bridge.
One of the accident victims died instantly while others were handed over to Medical personnel (Emergency Responder) who came to the accident scene by LASTMA Officials.
“The General Manager of LASTMA Mr Bolaji Oreagba however warned motorists particularly commercial bus drivers to always ensure that their vehicles are in good conditions before embarking on any journey within or outside the State.”
