Dele Farotimi gets bail amidst conditions
CITIZEN COMPASS – A Magistrate court sitting in Ekiti State, on Friday, granted the Lagos – based human rights lawyer and activists, Dele Farotimi the sum of ₦30 million bail.
The activist arrived at the Court, amidst tight security.
The bail conditions include two sureties, who are “responsible citizens in the society.”
Among the bail conditions was that the defendant should submit his international passport with the court.
Farotimi would also not grant media interviews during the pendency of the case.
He was remanded in prison custody on December 7, 2024, after being arrested, detained and charged with 16 counts of criminal defamation, following the publication of his book, “Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System.”
The matter has attracted both local and international human rights communities.
Many Nigerians are earnestly awaiting the outcome.
